Summer Opportunities and Plans for Next Season
Summer Opportunities
Social Butterflies
Social Group for Kids with Aspergers and PDD -Autism Spectrum
A new addition to All American Athletes!
Hosted by Keegan Kavanagh
Our group provides weekly opportunities for Children with Asperger Syndrome and PDD-NOS to socialize in a relaxing fun way with peers. We know children with ASD need opportunities to have fun and enjoy, and practice their social skills. We are committed to provide many opportunities for socialization, social bonding and friendship building.
Therefore, we schedule weekly activities; including art & crafts, gluten/casein/soy free cooking lessons, pool parties, park outings, occupational & physical therapy games and exercise events. Each week we will will also have a goal such as taking turns, greetings and closings, eye contact, calling peers by name, ect. But, in order to achieve the goal of providing opportunities for our kids to make friends with other kids in the group, members (parents & kids) are highly encourage to being active in the group and attending meetup on a regular basis! Only active participation in the group activities will allow kids to meet and establish friendships without pressure.
Spaces are limited to 10 children so sign up quickly!
There will be two groups so please clarify which session you would like for you and your child.

SAVE THE DATE
NOVEMBER 3, 2012
All American Athletes will be the recipients of the Rock Hill Junior Welfare's League 2nd Annual 8K Gobble Wobble Race!
This means that all the proceeds made from the Gobble Wobble will go to help All American Athletes providing more opportunities for other kids and different programs. We will also get to update our equipment! Depending on how much we are able to raise will depend on what other things we can do in the community for our special needs population.
Please note- you DO NOT have to be an avid runner in order to participate. It is 5 miles, but it is a mixture of walking and/or running. Whatever you can do!! Bring your kids to the Fun Run that is a 1/2 a mile that morning at 8:15!!! Even if you can't run/walk then spread the word and have friends and family run in your child's honor!!
We need your help spreading the word. Please email me at lpursley@rhmail.org and I will send you the flyer for you to post!! Please send an email to family, friends, church members, and coworkers so that we can raise money for All American Athletes.
If you know of anyone that is on the Junior Welfare League please make sure to thank them for this opportunity to help our league.
Please contact me with any of your questions.

2012 Schedule
Hope everyone had a restful and relaxing holiday season. Sorry that we were unable to do Kickball in the Fall, but we were just unable to work out volunteers. I will start recruiting a littler earlier to ensure that we have enough volunteers for each of the athletes. The plan is do Baseball again the Spring! We will use Rock Hill Parks Fields again. We will plan to start the week after Spring Break and run for 6 weeks. Please let me know if you are interested or would like to be added to the list serv to hear about future programs. Email me at allamericanathletes@gmail.com.
Look for information to be coming home in March about our Spring Baseball Season!
Happy New Year to everyone!
